The CVV is the three-digit value printed on the signature panel on the back of the card immediately following the card's account number.

American Express

The CVV is the 4 digit, non embossed number printed above your account number on the face of your card.

Why do I need to provide this information?
The CVV number is an important new security feature for card-not present transactions.

The customer has a card in his/her possession.
The card account is legitimate.

The CVV is printed only on the card - it is not contained in the magnetic stripe information, nor does it appear on sales receipts.
